M5 is the lowest-viscosity oil in the NIKON1 engine range: a 0W-20 designed for fuel economy and lower emissions in recent gasoline engines. It protects against low-speed pre-ignition, keeps pistons clean, resists oxidation and heat, protects timing chains from wear, and stays backward compatible with older gasoline engines that allow a 0W-20.
